Mission
Supporting young people with education and tools to stay healthy, safe from HIV, and free from adolescent pregnancies.

Vision
Healthy communities where every young person has the knowledge, resources, and support to live healthy, safe, and fulfilling lives.

Background
Smart Health Young Africa (SHFYA) is a youth-led health initiative founded in 2019 and implemented in 2022 by Tiara House of Actors. Guided by its mission of supporting young people with education and tools to stay healthy, safe from HIV, and free from adolescent pregnancies, SHFYA empowers adolescents and young people through health education, life skills, and access to youth-friendly health information and services.
The initiative reaches young people in both urban and rural communities through community-based programs and digital platforms, ensuring equitable access to essential resources and support. By partnering with schools, communities, healthcare providers, and youth volunteers, SHFYA is committed to building healthy communities where every young person has the knowledge, resources, and support to live healthy, safe, and fulfilling lives.
Adolescence is an important stage in a girl’s life where physical, emotional, and social changes occur. Many young girls experience fear, confusion, shame, or misinformation during their first menstruation due to limited knowledge and lack of open discussions about menstrual health.
