The session focused on helping girls understand the menstrual cycle, improve their menstrual hygiene practices, address common misconceptions, and develop greater confidence in talking about menstrual health.

Menstruation is a normal and important part of growing up, yet many girls continue to experience challenges related to limited information, stigma, myths, embarrassment, and difficulties accessing appropriate menstrual hygiene support. Through community-based education, SHFYA seeks to ensure that girls have the knowledge and confidence they need to manage menstruation with dignity.

Why Menstrual Health Education Matters

For many young girls, their first menstruation can be accompanied by confusion, fear, or uncertainty, especially when they have not received adequate information beforehand. Some girls may also hesitate to ask questions because menstruation is sometimes treated as a topic that should not be openly discussed.

SHFYA believes that every girl deserves access to clear, accurate, and age-appropriate information about her body and health. Menstrual health education can help girls understand what is happening to their bodies, recognize healthy menstrual practices, and feel more comfortable seeking support when they have questions or concerns.

By creating opportunities for open discussion, communities can help reduce stigma and encourage girls to approach menstruation as a normal part of life rather than something to be ashamed of.

We focus on collaboration Creating Knowledge, Confidence, and Dignity Smart Health for Young Africa (SHFYA)…

[1,6

post-1509","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-free-from-adolescent-pregnancies","category-teen-programs
https://smarthealthyoungafrica.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/08/IMAGE4-1.png",1080,810,false
https://smarthealthyoungafrica.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/08/IMAGE4-1.png",1080,810,false
https://smarthealthyoungafrica.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/08/IMAGE4-1.png",1080,810,false
https://smarthealthyoungafrica.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/08/IMAGE4-1-150x150.png",150,150,true
https://smarthealthyoungafrica.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/08/IMAGE4-1-300x225.png",300,225,true
https://smarthealthyoungafrica.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/08/IMAGE4-1-1024x768.png",1024,768,true],"team-500px":["https://smarthealthyoungafrica.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/08/IMAGE4-1-500x500.png",500,500,true],"1536x1536":["https://smarthealthyoungafrica.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/08/IMAGE4-1.png",1080,810,false],"2048x2048":["https://smarthealthyoungafrica.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/08/IMAGE4-1.png",1080,810,false
https://smarthealthyoungafrica.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/08/IMAGE4-1-250x250.png",250,250,true
https://smarthealthyoungafrica.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/08/IMAGE4-1-600x450.png",600,450,true
https://smarthealthyoungafrica.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/08/IMAGE4-1-100x100.png",100,100,true
free from adolescent pregnancies. Teen Programs
We focus on collaboration Creating Knowledge, Confidence, and Dignity Smart Health for Young Africa (SHFYA)…
["GET
