1. Primary Infection (First weeks\u2013months)<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

What happens:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • HIV enters the body<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Virus level goes very high<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • CD4 cells drop quickly<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    How the person feels:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

      \n
    • Flu-like symptoms (fever, headache, sore throat, tiredness)<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Some people feel sick, some don\u2019t<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

      This stage is also called Acute HIV syndrome<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

      2.Clinical Latency (Feels Fine stage)<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

      Time:<\/strong> Can last many years<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

      • Virus level becomes lower<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • CD4 cells recover a bit but slowly decrease<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • HIV is still in the body and active<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

        How the person feels:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

          • Usually feels normal<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

                    • Virus level is very high<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

                      How the person feels:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

                      Without treatment, this can lead to death<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

                      Serious infections<\/p>\n\n\n\n
